NABET-CWA Bulletin: NBCUniversal/Versant (MSNBC)

MSNBC Spinoff
New York City
October 8, 2025
On Thursday, October 2, NBCUniversal Labor Relations notified NABET-CWA via email that the Company was exercising its option to cancel the 2007 NABET-CWA/MSNBC Agreement. The Union promptly called for an in-person meeting with the Company to discuss the cancellation, as well as the impact and effect of such an extraordinary move.
The NABET-MSNBC Agreement, in place since 2007, requires the Company to apply the terms and conditions of the Master Agreement to NABET-CWA-represented daily hire employees assigned to technical work for programs produced by MSNBC.
On Tuesday, October 7, NBCUniversal representatives met with leaders of NABET-CWA at the offices of Local 11 in New York City. At that meeting, the parties thoroughly discussed the impact of the Company’s unexpected decision to cancel the Agreement.
The Union is currently assessing the Company’s decision to cancel the Agreement. In the meantime, we have secured the Company’s commitment to significantly maintain essential terms and conditions of the Agreement for all NABET-CWA represented daily hires working at MSNBC (soon to be known as MSNOW). All terms and conditions that were previously covered by the MSNBC Agreement will remain unchanged while the Union and the Company continue discussions.
The Union remains fully committed to representing all members and employees who have chosen NABET-CWA as their bargaining representative. We will continue to provide updates as additional information becomes available.
