NABET-CWA/NBCU Negotiations

New York City

Bulletin #1 - January 29, 2015

The NABET-CWA Bargaining Committee met in New York City with representatives of NBC Universal January 20-28, 2015. The parties have agreed to an on-the-record, limited issue bargaining approach as they re-negotiate terms and conditions in the Master Agreement. The current agreement is set to expire on March 31, 2015.

The company presented proposals impacting meal periods, holidays, seniority, dues check-off, night-shift differential, and sports vendors.

The Union's package is designed to enhance holiday entitlements in the contract, improve daily hire benefits and work conditions in Sideletter 32, and seeks more daily hire to staff conversions. Other proposals included group upgrades for maintenance, EJ TDs, and senior video engineers as well as improvements in vacation provisions. Additional proposals are aimed at addressing travel, meal, and safety issues for studio, news, and field productions.

The Union was represented in this round of bargaining by Lou Marinaro (New York, Local 11), Steve Mitnick (Washington, D.C., Local 31), Ed Dabrowski (Chicago, Local 41), Steve Ross (Burbank, CA, Local 53) as well as Local 11 attorneys Steven Star and Barry Peek. NABET-CWA Acting Sector President Charles Braico led the talks for the Union's team.

The parties will resume negotiations on February 3, 2015, in Los Angeles, CA.

Bulletins and other official information concerning these negotiations will be distributed by the Sector and Locals as necessary. In the meantime, please ignore all rumors.
