NABET-CWA/ABC-disney Negotiations
New York City
Bulletin #4 - september 29, 2016
The NABET-CWA Network Negotiating Committee (NNC) and representatives of ABC/Disney met in separate caucuses on Tuesday 9/27/16.
On Wednesday, the parties met at ABC Headquarters for the fifth time during this initial round of bargaining, in a series of sessions lasting all day. The discussions were focused on the Union’s package of proposals which is designed to improve working conditions and overall economics for our members – with a specific emphasis on Daily Hire employees. Meal periods, travel provisions, short turnaround, holidays and benefit improvements are all central themes in these negotiations. The parties are also working on a paid sick leave provision for Daily Hire employees. The Company responded to many of the Union’s proposals by offering a series of acceptances, rejections and counter proposals.
Thursday’s session was conducted in the offices of Local 11 in New York City. The parties exchanged additional proposed contract revisions, and reached tentative agreement on other items including an increase in Life Insurance coverage for Daily Hires in addition to a confirmation that Daily Hire employees are covered by the Company’s travel accident insurance policy.
The parties are slated to meet again on Friday, for a half-day session at ABC, before adjourning this round of talks, as planned. Negotiations are scheduled to resume in Los Angeles, beginning on October 10th. NABET-CWA and ABC have committed to a 10-day schedule in California with the jointly stated goal of attempting to reach overall tentative agreement for a successor contract by October 20th.
The current NABET-CWA/ABC Inc. Master Agreement expires on March 31, 2017.
