Job Overview:  WHEC-TV is participating in the New York State Broadcasters Association Internship Program for 2025. This is a summer paid internship, up to 180 hours in which the intern will be exposed to the full array of career opportunities available in the TV Broadcast Industry.

Job Responsibilities:
This opportunity provides an intern with the chance to witness and experience first-hand the operational procedures of a television station. After being exposed to the various departments in the station, the intern will be in the News department for more in-depth training. These areas include:

News (Producer, Photographer, Reporter) Engineering (Master Control, Operations) Creative Services (Commercial Production) Sales (Account Executive, Digital Sales, Traffic) Programming

As part of the Internship Program, selected Interns may be asked to participate in the NYSBA's social media program for Interns.

 

Qualification:
Candidates must meet all of the following criteria:

Current student, at least 17 years of age.

Resident of New York State and/or attending a school in New York State. 

Interested in a possible career in the broadcasting industry.

First time entrant into the program.

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job.

Compensation and Benefits:  When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations. The hourly rate of pay for this position is $15.50 per hour; for up to 180 hours of work.
