Experience: 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

Report on community issues and breaking news
Present clear, creative and accurate live shots
Produce accurate, complete and compelling news copy on deadline
Build network of informational sources that will enable the Company to stay ahead of its competitors
Develop ideas for news, feature and enterprise pieces
Collect and analyze facts about newsworthy events by interview, investigation, or observation
Gather accurate and interesting information for newscast presentations
Bring positive attitude to work each day
Inspire high newsroom morale

Specialized Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Excellent reading, writing, spelling, grammar and organizational skills
Promotes teamwork and maintains attitude of cooperation with all station personnel
Proficient at screening and logging video tapes and providing written editing instructions to tape editors
Adept at ad-lib presentations, without aid of scripts and/or teleprompters
Possess exceptional research skills

Requirements:

Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Journalism (or related field) and a minimum of (2) two years of experience as an on-air commercial television news reporter.

Training/Equipment: Operate newsroom computer systems; knowledge of video and editing systems preferred.

Work Environment/Mental/Physical Requirements: Position requires the operation of camera, camera equipment, computer and editing machine, and transport of equipment weighing up to 60 lbs. High stress environment with deadline pressures and the demands of breaking news, which can happen at any time. Position will require day-to-day multi-tasking, as well as managing multiple projects simultaneously with frequent change in direction and priority. Travel will be required on a regular basis. Work may be performed in extreme outdoor temperatures. A valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required; annual DMV checks will be required. Must be willing and able to work any and all shifts as necessary, including overnights/early morning, days, nights, weekends, and holidays.

Must be able to sit, conduct phone conversations, use email, write letters and memos, conduct face-to-face discussions with individuals or groups, make decisions without supervision, make decisions that impact the results of co-workers, work near others, and work indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. Must be able to sit for long periods of time.
