We're looking for a Managing Editor to join our award-winning newsroom by guiding daily news coverage, collaborating with reporters, and ensuring every story meets the highest standards of accuracy, fairness, and integrity. Working closely with the News Director, you'll play a key role in shaping our editorial vision while helping produce meaningful journalism across broadcast, digital, and emerging platforms.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced journalist who enjoys both leadership and hands-on reporting. From daily news to long-form storytelling, you'll help deliver trusted local journalism that makes a difference throughout the Southern Tier, Finger Lakes region, and Northeastern Pennsylvania.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Oversee the day-to-day news operations, including working directly with reporters as an editor and ensuring news coverage meets journalistic standards.
- In partnership with the News Director, coordinate news coverage across different platforms (video, digital, social media).
- Act as back-up news anchor; participate in on-air membership drives.
- Collaborate with reporters to develop news stories.
- Ensure news coverage is accurate, legally sound, and meets organizational policies.
- Partner with News Director and reporters to develop and then produce a local, weekly news program/podcast.
- Effectively manage time, meeting deadlines, and prioritizing multiple tasks.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities):
- Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism, related field or equivalent professional experience.
- Prior supervisory experience being part of a newsroom is preferred.
- Familiarity with Adobe Audition, AP Style Book, Google Suite,and Microsoft Suite. Ability to run an audio board and use of Wide Oribit is a plus.
- Strong news background and reporting portfolio; excellent news knowledge.
- Excellent proofreading and copyediting skills are a must.
- Excellent organization while also being able to adapt to changing needs and circumstances rapidly.
- Audio editing experience is a must.
- Fluency in the news of the Southern Tier/Finger Lakes coverage area and the public media system is a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Equipment Listing (Machines, Tools & Software):
- Must be able to operate Computer, Email, Google and Microsoft Suite.
- May be required to operate Printer, Copier, Fax Machine, Telephone, Scanner, and calculator.

Schedule/Hours: 40 hours per week, varied depending on needs
Pay: $54,000 to $57,000/Annually
