Maximus Call Center Workers Call for Paid Leave for Workers Who Test Positive for COVID
Over 50 Maximus call center workers sent a letter to Bruce Caswell, CEO of Maximus, expressing concerns with Maximus’ pandemic response policies and disregard for contact tracing in its call centers. Workers are demanding at least five days of paid leave for any worker who tests positive for COVID, and 10 days of paid leave for anyone who is positive and symptomatic, in addition to one day of paid leave for testing in the event of exposure, per the CDC's guidelines.
Maximus employs one of the largest federally-contracted workforces in the country under a contract with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). These workers, who are organizing with CWA to win better working conditions and a voice on the job, operate call centers that handle Medicare and ACA Federally Facilitated Marketplace calls.
