Organizing Update
Big Sky and Breckenridge Ski Patrollers
More than 200 ski patrollers at Big Sky (Mont.) and Breckenridge (Col.) voted for representation with CWA Local 7781/United Professional Ski Patrols of America. These workers patrol at two of the largest ski resorts in the country. Big Sky is owned by Boyne Resorts, the largest family-owned ski resort operator. Breckenridge is owned by Vail Resorts. Vail Resort ski patrols at Crested Butte (Col.), Park City (Utah), and Stevens Pass (Wash.) are also members of CWA Local 7781.
Patroller Joe Naunchik, organizer and President of CWA Local 7781, worked with the organizing committees at both the Breckenridge and Big Sky patrols over multiple seasons as they built support for the organizing campaign. Organizing committees at both resorts overcame aggressive anti-union campaigns.
